Father Michael was born in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Emerson High School in 1967.

Upon graduation he began his undergraduate studies at Hellenic College in Brookline, Masachusetts. Father received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Science and Hellenic Studies. Following his undergraduate studies Father Michael began his Graduate Studies at Holy Cross School of Theology receiving a Masters of Divinity.

Father Michael and Presvytera Cynthia were married at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois on June 25, 1972. Father Michael and Presvetera Cynthia have two children, Presvytera Areti Khitiri and Anthony Kouremetis and they have five grandchildren.

Father Michael was ordained to the Sub-Diaconate on October 1, 1972 by His Eminence Archbishop Iakovos, of Blessed Memory, at the Holy Cross Seminary Chapel in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was later ordained to the Diaconate and Priesthood by His Grace Bishop Philotheos of Meloa at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, Indiana, Father Michael's home parish. Father's first assignment was the Associate Priest at the Cathedral in Merrillville under the Spiritual direction of Father Evagoras Constantinides, of Blessed Memory.

Father Michael has served the Lord's Church and the Holy Archdiocese of America for over 38 years. In 2003 Father received the Ecclesiastical Offikio of Protopresbyter from His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah of the Holy Metropolis of Denver for his faithful service to the Church. Father has also received the Offikio of Sakellarios from Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago in 1983 and the Offikio of Confessor from Metropolitan Anthony of San Francisco, of Blessed Memory, in 1986.

Father Michael began his ministry at our beloved Church of Saint George on July 1, 2014.
